Dr. Iwai specializes in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, and provides care in all areas of clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
His specific areas of expertise include management of patients with:
-supraventricular arrhythmias (including atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, atrial tachycardia, AV nodal reentrant tachycardia, and arrhythmias associated with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome)
-ventricular arrhythmias (including those associated with coronary artery disease, "idiopathic" ventricular tachycardia, and symptomatic ventricular ectopy)
-potentially high risk of sudden death
-refractory congestive heart failure (for consideration of cardiac resynchronization therapy)
-recurrent syncope.
Dr. Iwai has expertise in the following procedures:
-catheter ablation of arrhythmias (including the use of advanced 3-dimensional mapping systems for ablation of complex arrhythmias)
-implantation of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators [ICDs] (including biventricular devices for cardiac resynchronization therapy)
-implantation of insertable loop recorders
-diagnostic electrophysiology studies
-laser lead extractions for pacemakers/ICDs
-electrical cardioversions
