Asthma is not a "one disease fits all." Our goal is to evaluate every child that has recurrent respiratory symptoms for an underlying allergies and aberration in the immune function. Hence, we are hoping to shorten the time for diagnosis of immune deficiency, which currently stands at the national mean of several years.
Dr. Herzog completed her pediatric residency at Schneider Children’s hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by her fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and Allergy and Immunology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Following her fellowship, she was a full-time faculty at Columbia University, College of Physician and Surgeons, where she cared for patients with asthma, allergy and immunology disorders. Dr. Herzog is currently the Director of the Allergy and Immunology at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill College of Cornell University. She is Board Certified in Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology and in Pediatrics.
The Division is the only Allergy and Immunology service in the tri-state area that offers a full collaboration between Allergy, Immunology and Pulmonology under one division, allowing a comprehensive evaluation of the underlying cause and triggers for asthma. Evaluation for underlying allergies or immune deficiency for patients presenting with recurrent wheezing, cough, upper respiratory infections, chronic respiratory disorders, sinusitis, otitis, and pneumonia, allows for early diagnosis and intervention. Pulmonary function testing is offered as well as part of the complete care for asthma.
In addition to the comprehensive evaluation of asthma, Dr. Herzog is providing state-of- the- art evaluation and management for infants, children and adults with food allergy, anaphylaxis reactions, eosinophilic esophagitis, including skin prick testing, PATCH testing, oral food challenge, and nutrition consultation for diet elimination. Furthermore, the allergy service offers a comprehensive evaluation of environmental allergies, including immunotherapy, Hymenoptera sting allergy, hives and angioedema, atopic and contact dermatitis, latex allergy, and evaluation of drug allergy, including drug desensitization.
The division offers twenty-four seven coverage by an attending Allergist and Immunologist, to assist patients and physicians in follow up consultations.
