Dr. Bernadette maintains a practice in General Adult Psychiatry, specializing in psychopharmacology. She has a special interest in treating patients with mood disorders, psychotic disorders and anxiety disorders. Dr. Bernadette has expertise in treating patients with psychiatric illness that is caused by or exacerbated by medical problems.

 

Rona Bernadette, MD is a native New Yorker. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brown University and completed her medical training at The Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bernadette spent 1 year in an Internal Medicine Internship Program in San Francisco, then completed her residency training in Psychiatry at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in NYC. Dr. Bernadette completed a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
 
Dr. Bernadette has spent her entire career at New York Presbyterian Hospital –Payne Whitney Westchester. She came to the hospital in 1998 and has worked on the acute inpatient units and in the Evaluation Center. She served as the Unit Chief on one of the acute units for five years. Dr. Bernadette also serves as a psychiatric consultant in the Emergency Room and on the medical units at White Plains Hospital.
 
Dr. Bernadette has a passion for travel and has traveled the world extensively. She has done medical and psychiatric volunteer work in Thailand, India and Vietnam.
 
Dr. Bernadette empowers her patients and their families to take an active role in their psychiatric treatment and overall health. Her practice is open for consultations, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Her office is located on West 23rd Street in NYC.
