Rajpreet Bal, M.D. joined Pain Medicine in 2007 and is an Instructor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is also an Assistant Attending at the NewYork Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Bal provides a comprehensive approach to relieve and alleviate pain. Her clinical interests are in low back pain, neuropathic and other neurological disease related pain, and pelvic pain. In creating our pelvic pain program Dr. Bal offers a multi-modal approach for the diagnosis and treatment of this challenging syndrome. Using the services of a multi-disciplinary team of urology and gynecology surgeons, pain specialists, psychiatrists, and physical therapists the goals are to decrease pain afflicting so many people and to maximize their day to day functionality. The creation of this service is significant because it offers real options to women affected by this debilitating condition. Pelvic pain affects women who are in their prime stage of life with respect to age and career and is severely underserved by the medical community today. Dr. Bal also works to provide relief from back and neck pain, muscle and joint pain. She also helps relieve pain caused by disorders of the nervous system, including shingles and trigeminal neuralgia (facial pain). Comprehensive care plans may include alternative medications and modalities like acupuncture combined with behavioral therapy, and interventional techniques. Dr. Bal provides fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided blocks as well as cryoanalgesia. Dr. Bal closely collaborates with the departments of Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery Psychiatry, Rehabilitative Medicine, as well as your primary physician to provide a comprehensive approach to your care. In addition to our pain management physicians, her team includes a specially trained nurse clinician.
