Dr. Strauss is a Diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Sciences in Biology, Summa Cum Laude, from Adelphi University and her medical degree from State University of New York-Health Science Center at Syracuse. She completed her Internal Medicine internship and her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Nassau County Medical Center where she was chief resident in her final year. Dr. Strauss took a position at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in 1993 after practicing at Montefiore Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital.
In 1996 Dr. Strauss was appointed the Director of the Residency Training Program at Columbia Presbyterian and since June of 2000 she has been the Program Director for the merged residency programs at both the Columbia Presbyterian Center and the NewYork Weill Cornell Center of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She is a voting member of the Columbia University Faculty Council of the Faculty of Medicine, the Departmental Committee on Appointments and Promotions, and the Committee on Credentialing. Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Association of Academic Physiatrists, and the New York State Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Additionally, she has published two book chapters and has given presentations and lectures at various centers as well as serving as a course director for an American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation meeting.
