My mission is to provide my patients with quick and easy access to high-quality, individualized, restorative, medical care including the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of a wide variety of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal and nervous systems to reach the goals of regaining function, improving performance, reducing pain, and improving quality of life.
Maria Victoria Pirraglia, M.D. is an Assistant Attending Physiatrist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Areas of expertise include musculoskeletal problems with a large focus on the spine, shoulders and knees, sports and occupational injuries, therapeutic injections of painful joints and myofascial trigger points, and electrodiagnostic muscle and nerve testing.
Dr. Pirraglia earned her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She subsequently completed her residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical College and affiliated institutions, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), and gained experience in the rehabilitation of patients after stroke, orthopedic and cardiac surgery, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, high-performance athletic injuries, amputee prosthetic and orthotic prescription, and the management of burn victims and cancer patients.
Upon completion of residency, Dr. Pirraglia joined the Weill Cornell Department of Rehabilitation Medicine full-time faculty practice and served as Medical Compliance Officer from 1998 to 2001. She currently leads her own private practice, continues to attend hospital clinics, and participates in the teaching service of residents and medical students. Dr. Pirraglia is a published author, has co-created instructional video presentations for the Continuing Medical Education (CME) network, and has been an invited guest lecturer on rehabilitation specialty topics for several prestigious medical universities.
