Currently, Dr. Tahir is the attending physician on the Adolescent Unit at Payne Whitney Westchester and treats patients in the Outpatient Department. His professional interests include psychotherapeutic and pharmacologic management of mood disorders, psychotic disorders and personality disorders.
Dr. Muhammad Tahir received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Punjab in Pakistan. He practiced medicine for two years at the Services Hospital Lahore, Pakistan before coming to the United States. Dr. Tahir completed his psychiatric residency at the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, including training at Columbia University Hospital. In addition, under the supervision of the late Dr. Paulina Kernberg, he finished a Child and Adolescent Psychiatric fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College and Payne Whitney Westchester.
Dr. Tahir is available for diagnostic consultation, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology manangement of children and adolescents.
