Dr. Kutko is a native of the New York Metropolitan area. Raised in Northern Bergen County, New Jersey, she subsequently attended Rutgers College where she majored in Biochemistry.
She attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School, where she also completed her residency. Dr. Kutko continued her training at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center (now Weill Cornell Medical Center), completing a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care.
