"CRMI aims to be a leader in the field of donor egg in vitro fertilization; not only in terms of technical advances, but also with respect to screening donors, ethical issues and emotional support. It is enormously personally satisfying for me to work in this area. Our work in donor egg helps couples to experience pregnancy and childbirthwhen other treatment options have been exhausted."
Dr. Ina Cholst graduated from Swarthmore College in 1973 (with honors) and from NYU School of Medicine in 1977. She completed her residency in Ob Gyn at Yale in 1981 and her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Columbia in 1983. She is board certified in both specialties.
Dr. Cholst brings more than 30 years of experience to the care of her patients. Her areas of interest include the care of infertile couples, with a particular interest in medical, psychological, and ethical issues of egg donation. She is skilled in laparoscopic hysterectomy, a technique that allows hysterectomy with short recuperation time and almost no scars. She is interested in menopause and in adolescent gynecology and she feels strongly about providing abortion services to those who need them.
Dr. Cholst is a proud of being a full time faculty member at Weill Cornell Medical College since 1983. Her husband, Ira Goldberg, is professor of medicine and chief of the division of preventive medicine and nutrition at Columbia. They live on the Upper West Side where they have raised two children. In Dr. Cholst's spare time, she bicycles, skis, reads and enjoys good conversation.
