Dr. Howard A. Riina received his B.S.E. in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Biology fromFranklin and Marshall College. Dr. Riina then received a Master of Philosophy in Molecular Neurobiology from Cambridge Universitybefore receiving his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine. Dr. Riina then completed his General Surgical internshipand Neurosurgical training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During this neurosurgical program, he completedfellowships in Diagnostic Neuroradiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Endovascular-InterventionalNeuroradiology at the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Beth Isreal Medical Center. Prior to joining our staff,Dr. Riina completed a fellowship in Cerebrovascular/Skull Base Surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. DrRiina has lectured and published extensively regarding intracranial aneurysms and vascular malformations of the brain andspine. Dr. Riina is one of a few nationally recognized inidividuals who performs both open micro-cerebrovascular neurosurgeryas well as interventional neuroradiology.
