Howard A. Riina, M.D.

Dr. Howard A. Riina received his B.S.E. in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Biology from Franklinand Marshall College. Dr. Riina then received a Master of Philosophy in Molecular Neurobiology from Cambridge Universitybeforereceiving his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine. Dr. Riina then completed his General Surgical internshipandNeurosurgical training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During this neurosurgical program, he completedfellowshipsin Diagnostic Neuroradiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Endovascular-InterventionalNeuroradiologyat the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Beth Isreal Medical Center. Prior to joining our staff, Dr. Riina completeda fellowship in Cerebrovascular/Skull Base Surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. DrRiina has lecturedand published extensively regarding intracranial aneurysms and vascular malformations of the brain andspine. Dr. Riina isone of a few nationally recognized inidividuals who performs both open micro-cerebrovascular neurosurgeryas well as interventionalneuroradiology.
