Dr Kerr attended BowdoinCollege where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.He then attended New York School of Medicine where he received his Doctor ofMedicine degree.Subsequent training included a three year stent as a surgery intern and resident at University of California – San Francisco.Dr. Kerr then completed an anesthesia residency at ColumbiaPresbyterianMedicalCenter where he also served as Chief Resident.Prior to joining the faculty at CornellMedicalCollege in 1992, he finished a fellowship at EmoryUniversityHospital in cardiac anesthesia and critical care medicine.As a member of the Department of Anesthesiology, Dr. Kerr spends most of his time in the cardiac operating rooms or serving time as Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.Since getting a degree in Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University School of Business, Dr. Kerr has become very engaged in issues of patient care and cost management as it relates to the critical care setting.He Chairs the Inter-ICU Council, the Formulary Subcommittee on Critical Care Therapeutics and serves as the Faculty Adviser to the Housestaff Quality Council.He is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists.He is also a Fellow of the AmericanCollege of Critical Care Medicine.
