Dr. Edyta Pirog is an expert diagnostic pathologist with special expertise in gynecologic pathology and gynecologic cytopathology. Dr. Pirog is pursuing research in the field of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections and HPV-related lesions of the genital tract. She has published extensively and lectured on cervical and vulvar pathology and is a contributor to the seminal Robbins& Cotran textbook of pathology. Dr. Pirog is available to consult on issues related to HPV infection, HPV testing, Pap smears, cervical cancer screening and all areas of gynecologic pathology.

Dr. Edyta Pirog received her MD from Medical University of Warsaw, Poland, graduating with the highest honors. She was awarded a Mayor of Warsaw Scholarship for Achievements in Research in the area of gynecologic pathology and came to the United States to continue research pursuits. Dr. Pirog enrolled in two consecutive postdoctoral fellowships - at Emory University School of Medicine and University of Kentucky College of Medicine, respectively. Subsequently, Dr. Pirog completed a residency training in pathology at Columbia University, followed by a fellowship in gynecologic pathology under the auspices of Dr. Ralph Richart, a leading expert the field of cervical pathology. Afterward, Dr. Pirog completed another fellowship in gynecologic pathology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where she worked under the tutelage of Dr. Lora Hedrick Ellenson, nationally renown for her research on endometrial cancer. Upon completion of her training Dr. Edyta Pirog was appointed Instructor, then Associate Professor, and currently Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Weill Medical College.
