Dr. Brij M. Sood is a board certified Radiation Oncologist and Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medical Center and Clinical Director and Chief of Brachytherapy at New York Hospital Queens. He graduated from Dhanbad Medical College, Ranchi University, India in 1977. His post-graduate training included Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Cancer Center, Bombay, India. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 1986. Dr. Sood accepted Radiation Oncology Residency position at Beth Israel Medical Center (1987-1990). He was on staff at the University of Rochester, New York 1990-93. He returned to Albert Einstein Medical College Hospital in 1993 as an Assistant Professor and Clinical Director. He was a Senate member at Albert Einstein Medical College and Hospital. Dr. Sood was a member of Radiation safety committee, the Cancer Committee and Director of Quality Assurance as well. Dr. Sood joined Weill Cornell Medical Center-New York Hospital Queens in July 2002. His clinical interests include, Head and neck, Gynecological, Lung, Prostate, Breast and Gastrointestinal malignancies besides high and low dose rate brachytherapy, IMRT, multimodality therapy and complimentary therapies. Dr. Sood actively participates in clinical trials and basic science research projects. He has published, presented and contributed to more than 40 scientific papers at international meetings and in peer review journals.
