Children and teens may experience gynecological concerns. It is important to seek care from a gynecologist who is passionate about and experienced with caring for younger patients.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that adolescents between the ages of 13 and 15 begin routine care with a gynecologist.

At Weill Cornell Medicine, our exceptional care teams believe that children and teens deserve the very best gynecological care. We provide sensitive, compassionate care to ensure that all patients have a positive experience that supports their health and understanding of their own well-being.

Adolescent Gynecology Conditions We Care For

Our team helps children and teens achieve the best possible health. Our specialized doctors care for all adolescent gynecology conditions, including those that are physically and emotionally complex.

During your appointment, you and your doctor will discuss your overall health, reproductive issues and any questions that you may have. The appointment may include discussions about or care for:

●        Heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding

●        Early or late puberty

●        Pelvic pain

●        Anatomic conditions

●        Breast conditions

●        Ovarian cysts

●        Genital rashes, itching or vaginal discharge

●        Contraception

●        Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

●        Gender-affirming care

We are committed to helping our patients understand their health and well-being. During each visit, we provide detailed information and resources about overall health, specific conditions and treatment options. We're here to answer questions, provide guidance and support our patients, parents and caregivers to make the best health decisions.

Why Choose Weill Cornell Medicine?

Sensitive, confidential care: Our doctors promote greater well-being by supporting open communication between patients and their parents/caregivers regarding health decisions, while also supporting patient confidentiality.

A typical visit begins with a discussion between the doctor, the patient and the patient's parent(s)/caregiver(s). We then allow time for the patient to have a confidential discussion with the physician.

Unless the patient’s safety is at risk, communication solely between the patient and doctor is confidential to foster and ensure a trusting relationship.

Multidisciplinary care from leading experts: When you choose Weill Cornell Medicine, you have access to a network of doctors and specialists who are experts in caring for children and teens. Your adolescent gynecologist may consult with other subspecialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as experts in Pediatrics, including Pediatric Endocrinology, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Psychiatry and general Pediatric care

Weill Cornell Medicine partners with NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the top hospital systems in New York City and the U.S.
