The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that adolescents between the ages of 13 and 15 begin routine care with a gynecologist.

During your appointment, you and your doctor will discuss your overall health, reproductive issues and any questions that you may have. The appointment may include discussions about or care for:

Sensitive, confidential care: Our doctors promote greater well-being by supporting open communication between patients and their parents/caregivers regarding health decisions, while also supporting patient confidentiality.

A typical visit begins with a discussion between the doctor, the patient and the patient's parent(s)/caregiver(s). We then allow time for the patient to have a confidential discussion with the physician.

Unless the patient’s safety is at risk, communication solely between the patient and doctor is confidential to foster and ensure a trusting relationship.
