Dr. Lichtman is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Weill Cornell Medical College where he specializes in the anesthetic care of patients undergoing cardiovascular and aortic surgery. He is board-certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, and he holds subspecialty certification in Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography.& & He is a Fellow of both the American Society of Echocardiography and the American Academy of Wilderness Medicine.
Dr. Lichtman is a member of both national and state anesthesia societies and is a member of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists Committee on Continuous Quality Improvement.
Dr. Lichtman is a Commander in the United States Navy Medical Corps and his military training includes recognition and treatment of chemical and biological warfare casualties, disaster, and undersea medicine.& Currently, Dr. Lichtman is the Director of Medical Services and Senior Medical Executive for Operational Health Support Unit-Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. In 2003, he was recalled to active duty for Operation Iraqi Freedom for which he received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal.
He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists Committee on Trauma and Emergency Preparedness and his teaching interests include: cardiothoracic anesthesiology, trauma, and training medical and military personal in disaster medicine and weapons of mass destruction.
