Ayodele Adeigbola, M.D.

 

Dr. Adeigbola maintains a practice in General Psychiatry treating older adolescents and adults but has special interest in the addictions, mood disorders and schizophrenia. She has expertise and sensitivity to issues relevant to women of color and the LGBT community.

 

Ayodole Adeigbola, M.D. is a native New Yorker who began her academic career at Cornell University, receiving a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Society.She attended Howard University College of Medicine graduating with several awards. Her residency in psychiatry was completed at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Campus and she then went on to complete a fellowship in Community Psychiatry at NewYork Presbyterian-Columbia Campus' renowned Pyschiatric Insitute.

Trained in both clinical care and administrative skills, Dr. Adeigbola worked for several years as an Associate Medical Director at Project Renewal, a not-for-profit agency serving the needs of the homeless, mentally ill and drug addicted New Yorkers. She also worked in a safe space for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgendered youth giving her added experience and expertise in this community.

 Dr. Adeigbola is currently a full time faculty member at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Westchester Division where she is an attending in both the inpatient and outpatient substance abuse programs. She served as Acting Unit Chief of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

Dr. Adeigbola believes in the importance of self-agency and empowers patients and their families to take an active role in their psychiatric treatment and overall health.

Her practice is open for consultations, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. She maintains offices on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and in White Plains.
